Mr. Carrington's Top Storage Solutions and Declutter Tips
Mr (Iwan) Carrington (@mistercarrington) is a well-known TV presenter and content creator and is well known for cleaning tips and hacks, as well as money saving ideas.
He spent some time with Dr. Beckmann to share his top tips on decluttering, as well as to share his appreciation of Dr. Beckmann’s Magic Leaves range, particularly the new Dr. Beckmann Floor & Multi-surface Cleaning Sheets.
So here are Mr Carrington’s top tips for decluttering
1 When space is lacking in a kitchen, we need to utilise every available storage area. The walls can be a great please to start, by adding shelving, hooks or hanging racks. There is also often unused space on the top of kitchen cupboards; where you can add baskets or crates to store lesser used appliances.
2 Kitchen trolleys are fantastic for storing multiple items under counter tops, you can even find narrow ones that will squeeze into gaps between cupboards or appliances or opt for one with a worktop that can be used as additional surface space
3 The cupboard under the sink can easily become chaotic with too many cleaning products. These spaces are usually quite deep, so I like to use long narrow storage containers that can slide out easily to hold all my cleaning supplies
4 By using multi-purpose cleaning products, we can reduce the amount of containers we are storing. Dr. Beckmann’s Floor & Multi-surface Cleaning Sheets are fantastic because they take up hardly any room and work on both floors and surfaces. I also love to use white vinegar, bicarb and washing up liquid for loads of different cleaning tasks around the home
5 Another tip for under the sink is to remove the shelf to create some more height – a lot of cleaning supplies come in taller bottles so removing it or adjusting its position can allow them to stand up in a caddy or storage container which helps to keep it organised
6 You can be inventive with your storage containers – if you are short of space you can keep products in your mop bucket!
7 Add a few stick-on hooks to the inside of the cupboard door, to hang accessories and cleaning cloths
8 When decluttering your under-sink cupboard, take everything out of it and see which cleaning products you could do without. Think about what you haven’t used in 2 months and then get rid of it
9 Are there any multiples? Often there will be multiple half-empty bottles of the same product which can be decanted into each other providing they are identical
10 Some items don’t belong under the kitchen sink – for example toilet cleaner, so put these in their correct home if there’s space and use them up.
